There are tons of articles out there which tells us what to feed our babies, but not so much on what to feed a toddler! Well, it isn’t exactly rocket science. You can however follow our rough guide on what to feed your 1 – 2 year old toddler.
Apart from formula milk and breastmilk, you can start introducing other types of dairy products to your toddler. Popular choices are soft cheese and full fat yogurt. You can also add in some grains such as pasta and rice to your toddler’s diet. Around 3 ounces of grains a day is recommended.
Proteins such as eggs, beans and fish are also recommended and you should feed no more than 2 ounces in any one day. You should however always monitor your toddler after he has consumed these proteins for the first time. Some toddlers are allergic to certain types of protein and may develop a food allergy. You should talk to your doctor especially if your family has a history of food allergies.
Another great item to introduce to your toddler is juice! You can start by giving your child 4 to 6 ounces of pure juice in his sippy cup. Remember to feed your toddler only pure 100% juice and not one of those nasty cordial drinks which are chock full of sugar and artificial flavoring.
